References to Final Fantasy V

 1. In 1.0 the servers Istory and Karnak were named after towns from Final Fantasy V.

Istory

Karnak

2. Sastasha is a homage to the Pirates' Hideout, both are also the first dungeon of each game.

3. The Guardian Tree in Central Shroud (X 15.0 Y 25.2) is a reference to the Guardian Tree from Final Fantasy V.

4. In a Main Story Quest, the player fights Siren in the beaches of the Isles of Umbra, in a place called the Ship Graveyard. A similar event happens in Final Fantasy V, with the main party being ensnared by the Siren due to being shown people they care about, while Galuf, due to being amnesiac, not falling for the trick and saving the rest of the party.

The Siren is also the final boss in Pharos Sirius.

5. Krile Mayer Baldesion is the grandaughter of Galuf Baldesion and friend of Alphinaud. Krile is a character mentioned way back in A Realm Reborn, but who first appeared in Heavensward. She is a female conjurer Lalafell, and an associate of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.

Krile is based on the character by the same name from Final Fantasy V, Krile Mayer Baldesion, grandaughter of Galuf Halm Baldesion, who takes his place in the party after the latter dies in a battle with Exdeath by using all his strength to repel the nefarious tree. FF XIV's Krile is part of the Students of Baldesion, who formerly resided in the isle of Bal, a reference to the fact that both Krile and Galuf lived in the Kingdom of Bal in FF V.

FF XIV's Krile also uses the outfit FF V's Krile has when she's in her White Mage Job, another nod to her actual class in XIV (As Conjurers are the classes that evolve to White Mages)

6. In the Eureka storyline it is revealed Galuf traveled with three more companions. Xezat, Kelger and Dorgann, all named after the Warriors of Dawn from Final Fantasy V, of which Galuf was a part of. There's also areas of Eureka named after them as well. Port Surgate, Klauser's Howe, The Val River Swale and Klauser's Peace.

7. The Great Gubal Library dungeon is based on the Library on the Ancients, and you fight enemies from that dungeon as well, like Page 64 and Byblos.

8. Omega and Shinryu are based on the superbosses from Final Fantasy V, Omega Weapon and Shinryu. Omega is an extraterrestrial being that was once thought to have been made by ancient Allag, capable of subduing Primals and Shinryu is a Primal, making them both rivals just like they were in Final Fantasy V.

9. The Sirensong Sea is based on the Ship Graveyard from Final Fantasy V.

10. In the First there was a civilization known as Ronka, and they left a bunch of ruins around the place. In Final Fantasy V there's a location known as the Ruins of Ronka as well.

11. The Night's Blessed original settlement of Fort Gohn is named after the town from Final Fantasy V, Gohn. And similarly to the original, it is located near the Ruins of Ronka.

12. Gilgamesh, our favourite warrior buffoon with a heart of gold from Final Fantasy V makes an appearance in this game in the A Realm Reborn Hildibrand Questline. Having grown lonely in his travels, he bought a rooster and painted it green in memory of his companion Enkidu from Final Fantasy V.

You fight Gilgamesh later on in the Battle on the Big Bridge and Battle in the Big Keep Trials, in which he quotes a lot of his phrases from Final Fantasy V almost verbatim and has some of the strategies from his boss fights from FF V (like faking surrender just to buff himself up and turning you into a toad or using Mini), in the latter fight he also summons Enkidu as a Primal, due to his own wish of seeing his old friend again.

Since this is a very special reference to me, I decided to record 2 videos of the trials regarding Gilgamesh so you can see the references there. Might do this with other references as well, enjoy them.

22. The Interdimensional Rift in the Omega Raids is based on the Interdimensional Rift from Final Fantasy V.

The Interdimensional Rift is the Final Fantasy multiverse, and the reason why Gilgamesh can appear in so many of the games is because Exdeath, the villain from Final Fantasy V, banished him there.

The Interdimensional Rift is the final dungeon of Final Fantasy V

The theme that plays in the Interdimensional Rift is a rearrangement of Prelude to the Void from Final Fantasy V

26. In a Dravanian quest called Let Bygones Be Bygones you have to find a plant named Wyvern Tails to heal an injured dragon. Something similar happens in Final Fantasy V, where you have to go to Drakenvale to get some dragon grass to heal a Wind Drake.

27. There's a Moai face under the Salt Lake in the Lochs (X20.0 Y16.7) that possibly references another underwater Moai from Final Fantasy V

28. The Blue Mage Artifact gear is based on the Blue Mage outfit from Final Fantasy V.

29. The Blue Mage casting animation is a 3D transition of the Final Fantasy V Blue Mage casting animation.

30. The Special FATE boss Archaeotania from The Tempest is based off the original Twintania from Final Fantasy V.

31. The Spectral Necromancer seems to be taking cues from Lenna's Necromancer outfit as she has a skull shaped crown, a leotard, and has pink hair.

32. The Ghido minion obtainable from Sirensong Sea is based on the Turtle Sage Ghido from Final Fantasy V. If put next to the Wind-Up Exdeath they'll both fight it out.
